Largs continued their winning streak as they blew away Irvine Victoria at Greenwood Academy.
Thistle got off to a flying start and took the lead after three minutes when a long throw by Cameron Ferguson caused mayhem in the Vics box and David Griffins forced the ball home from close range.
Largs continued to dominate but it was five minutes from half time before they netted their second. Lee McShane worked hard to close down the Irvine defender and win the ball. He played the ball into Griffins and his neat pass allowed Robert Jack to close in on goal and slide the ball home.
The game was ended as a contest right on half time. Cameron Ferguson was upended on the edge of the Irvine penalty box .He dusted himself down and fired the resultant free kick into the roof of the net.
Largs came out the blocks flying at the start of the second half and added to their tally straight away when a Griffins shot from outside the area was parried away by the keeper. Jack reacted quickest to the rebound but his follow up was saved only for the ball to break for McShane to tap the ball into the unguarded net.
Thistle’s superior fitness showed as they added four in the final fifteen minutes.
Firstly Ben Riley broke up an Irvine attack on the edge of his own box. He drove forward and his pin point threw ball was slipped under the keeper by Jack.
Largs scored their sixth with the move of the game. Reece Allen intercepted on the half way line. He played a one two with Griffins and released the ball perfectly into the path of Jack, who outstripped the defence to complete his hat-trick.
Jack was running riot by now and got his fourth five minutes later when he ran on to a Griffins flick to finish neatly.
The rout was completed in the final minute when Iain Bell ran onto a floated Allen pass. His goal attempt was well saved but Bell tucked home the rebound.
Next up for the Thistle kids is the League Cup Final versus Auchinleck Talbot on the 21st May. Kick off is 11.15am at Kilwinning Sports Ground.
