Largs Thistle kids made a whirlwind start to lift the Central Ayrshire League Cup at the weekend.
The Barrfields boys, led by coach Ally Burns, moved 4-1 in front in the first half with goals coming from Allen, Ferguson, McShane, and Griffins, and held on in the second half to record a handsome victory.
The youngsters had been on a long unbeaten run of 14 games going into Sunday's clash at Kilwinning Sports Centre, and made it a fantastic fifteen with arguably one of their best performances, cheered on by a strong crowd.
Delighted Ally said: "Largs were worthy winners with the official's man of the match award going to Thistles midfielder Reece Allen.
“We spoke at the start about the boys giving us two hours of concentration and hard work and that is what they did. They should be proud of themselves and thoroughly deserved their victory”
It was also a significant milestone for the Largs Thistle Community Club as the U16s notched an important piece of silverware.
Thistle President Peter Connor praised the young team and said: "To reach a cup final and win is a fantastic achievement and you all should be proud of yourselves. Well done to all the coaches for all the hard work throughout the season. It is a fantastic result guys - well done to everyone, This is just the start for 2001s as you are on fire."
And Peter has invited the Thistle under 16s to Barrfields Park for the last league game at home to Auchinleck Talbot to parade the trophy to Theesel supporters.
