It is a case of comings and goings at Barrfields as Thistle said goodbye to some popular players this week, but are looking to the future with the signing of exciting new talent.

Manager Stuart Davidson told the 'News' that a 'refresh was needed' and wouldn't do the club any harm as they focus on returning to the top flight next season.

The big surprise was Thistle's long term striker and assistant manager Kevin Struthers leaving for Winton Rovers to be re-united with former Largs manager Sandy MacLean, and he has also been joined by veteran defender Eddie Walton at Ardrossan.

Glenn Thomson has signed for Greenock Juniors to join former Thistle player Tom Molloy, who has taken over as manager at Ravenscraig Stadium.

Stuart confirmed that he has put an offer on the table for top scorer James Marks, but the forward is still weighing up his options.

Speaking on the club website, Kevin Struthers said: "After seven fantastic years I have decided that it's time for me to move on. This has not been an easy decision for me and one that I have not taken lightly. I'm sure you can understand the difficulty of leaving behind a club that I have called home.

"The sole reason for my decision is that I feel I need a new challenge. I would like to thank the fans who have backed us through thick and thin, I really appreciate your fantastic support.

"I wish the team and everyone connected to the club all the very best going forward and I will not be a stranger to Barrfields."

Thistle have brought in Clydebank attacker Joel Kasubandi - a former Celtic youth player - to boost the club's striking options. Martin Orr has also joined from Greenock and is a right sided midfielder and full-back. Largs have also sealed Stephen Burden's signature from Colville Park who are the Scottish amateur champions, and midfielder Graham Muir has returned.

Thistle boss Stuart Davidson said: "Joel is a good goalscorer and a big athletic boy and I think our park will really suit him and I am looking forward to him showing us what he can do. He played with Creag Little at St Mirren. Martin Orr is a very good, fit and versatile player, and Stephen Burden will boost the midfield. It is great to get Graham Muir back - he has missed the place since he left, and provides an additional goal threat from midfield."

Speaking about losing Walton and Struthers, Stuart said: "Eddie came in half way through the season and calmed the defence, and it is sad to see him go. Kevin feels he needs a wee change and had been at Largs for a while, and didn't want to get stale. I hope he stays clear of injuries and wish him good luck - it will be disappointing not to have him."

Stuart confirmed that the club is still looking for a new assistant manager following the departure of Struthers.
