Kilsyth 2 Largs 2

Largs Thistle had to settle for a share of the spoils against Kilsyth in their second league game of the season.

Scott Adam opened the scoring in the first minute for the Barrfields side, but the visitors equalised directly from a corner.

Thistle's Adam made it 2-1 before half-time, and Kilsyth levelled matters in the second half.

There were chances for both sides with Kilsyth rattling the post.

Largs boss Stuart Davidson said: "To get the early goal was a bit of a gift to get a good start like that but I felt we didn't capitalise on it.

"We could have got a head of steam and get the next goal but due to one thing and another we didn't quite go about our business. On saying that, the Kilsyth goal came out of the blue from a corner kick, but the boy meant it.

"To be fair to the boys, we went and got the second goal but we were unable to push it and finish the game off."

"In the second half we actually had a few chances. The game was bit too open for my liking - they had chances that they will say that they probably should have taken but I felt that our chances were more clear cut and we should have finished the game off.

"Overall a draw was a fair result."

Asked whether last Wednesday's exertions in the unfortunate 1-0 defeat at Hurlford had perhaps had an effect, Stuart said: " I think so - the park is quite heavy at times, and the boys had a hard game at Hurlford and it took it out their legs a bit.

"The effort is there - we are continuing to work hard and required a greater effort to get the three points on Saturday but we can't criticise them too much given the circumstances, and the boys have been great so far.

"No disrespect to their squad, but with the players we have got and how far we have come on, it was a disappointment to come away with a draw. It is perhaps a complement to show how much we have come on that we are disappointed to be leaving Kilsyth with only a point."

"In the end up, we have six goals after two games, and four points on the board, which is not a bad start."
