Largs Thistle boss Stuart Davidson has praised veteran keeper Stephen Connick for coming out of retirement to help the Barrfields side against Cumbernauld last week.
Stuart said: “Stephen did well, it was a poor result, you can’t blame Stephen Connick for any of the goals. Stephen made a great save in the lead up to the first goal but we didn’t have anyone there to clear it, and Cumbernauld scored. Stephen did his bit. It was a good save but we are looking for our defenders to react quicker.”

Reflecting on last week's game against Cumbernauld, Stuart said: “We were good in passages but we didn’t defend well in key moments, and I felt we do have the players to create chances and open up the defence a bit more - that didn’t happen. I am not happy about the manner we lost it, and it was really disappointing. We are trying to get a wee run going but we don’t seem to be able to kick on.
“You have to remember that we have quite a few young players and we are looking for that bit of consistency. I have every faith in the boys.”
Thistle keeper Ross Lundy is set to be out for 4-6 weeks after damaging ankle ligaments, and fellow keeper Sean Graham has an ankle injury but is expected to return for Renfrew next weekend.

Forward Jamie Campbell also has an ankle injury, and is back in training, while Ryan McKie is awaiting a knee scan.
Looking at the season to date, Stuart said: “At this stage, nothing has been decided, it is important not to fall away and always having that chance for promotion or to push for the title. Right now we are concentrating on getting our consistency. We are looking to go to Renfrew a week on Saturday and get back on track, and then we have the Scottish Cup game at Sauchie which everyone at the club is looking forward to. We want to do well in the Scottish Cup this season after not doing so well in recent seasons, as it is important recognition for us, and the club in general.”

Thistle have arranged a friendly against Beith on Tuesday evening at Beith Astro at 7pm.
