Largs Thistle U19s 3 Prestwick 0

In-form Thistle were on the front foot right from the start at Barrfields on Sunday.

Prestwick were pinned back in the opening stages and the Thistle teens were rewarded when they took the lead from a corner on 17 minutes.

Greg Kean delivered an inswinging corner that found Adam Graham who had lost his marker at the back post to head home and put Thistle 1-0 up.

Thistle continued to press and harry for the rest of the 1st half but couldn’t double their lead. Man for man, though, Largs were by far the better team.

Largs started the 2nd half in the exact same manner as they ended the 1st and doubled their lead on 51 minutes.

Reece Allen flicked on a long ball for Robert Jack who nudged it out from his body and hit it a screamer into the top left hand corner leaving the Prestwick goalkeeper helpless.

Four minutes later, on 61 minutes, Greg Kean crossed the ball into Jack in the box. Jack took a touch past the oncoming defender and slotted the ball into the bottom corner past the keeper to get his brace and make it 3-0.

Largs were now completely dominant and comfortable with Herrero-Redden and Florence mopping up everything that was thrown at them.

Prestwick had a couple of half chances towards the end but couldn’t convert and Thistle ran out comfortable and deserved winners.

Strength and conditioning coach, Ian McShane, standing in for manager Ally Burns said: “Every boy today was immense with three goals and a clean sheet!

"I’m so proud of each and every one of them. The team spirit and togetherness was there for all to see as well as some wonderful free flowing, quick passing football. As we say to them “Hard work in training and then bringing that into match day gets performances like this and results”.

Next up for Thistle is the semi final of the Presidents Cup against Irvine Utd. Kick off 2pm at Barrfields on Sunday 11 February.
