Largs Academy 2 Prestwick Academy 1
It is congratulations to Largs Academy senior side who rounded off the season in style with silverware.
The school pupils beat their Prestwick counterparts thanks to a double from Robert Jack who also features for Largs Thistle Under 17s.
It was a hard fought victory against an experienced and strong Prestwick Academy in the final of the Ayrshire Schools Trophy at the show park at Kilwinning Sports Club last Wednesday.
However, it was difficult conditions with the temperature and the dried out playing surface
Previous ties in the knock out stages included a 2-1 victory away to Garnock Academy in the quarter finals and 5-0 victory away to Loudoun Academy in the semis.
It was a hard fought, goalless first half but Largs had the better of the chances with Jack Loudon's excellent 20 yard volley crashing off the crossbar
Robert Jack was a half time substitute to lead the forward line.
It was a very tight second half with few chances for either team
Jack broke the deadlock in the 75th minute and reacted quickest to dink it past the on rushing keeper
With Prestwick pushing for an equaliser, David Ewing drove forward with the ball before squaring it for Robert Jack to get his second of the match (86mins)
Prestwick grabbed a late consolation (92mins) but Largs held strong to see out a well deserved victory.
