We had chance for West Kilbride sports facilities

Your readers will no doubt be bemused to discover that Mr Adam, the writer of a letter on the 'shambles' of the pavilion, was also the Chairman of this group who signed a document on 22nd June, 2006.
Did he forget, that age thing again? Sadly, like every other attempt to progress a sports group in West Kilbride, it lasted about as long as it takes to teach a baby to walk.
Had this constituted sports group been interested in ALL sports and given a shred of commitment, time and energy required to progress with the lease for the Glen, we would not still be whining about the lack of sports facilities in the Glen. I said then and I say again, the only way the sports facilities can be upgraded or renewed is through a Community Group who can access funds that the council cannot, hence the reason I arranged for a presentation from the Kilwinning Sports Club to try and stir some degree of enthusiasm, all to no avail.
Mr Adam claims there has been no commitment from me over the years, how grossly untrue. I will make every letter and document associated with the sports facilites in West Kilbride, including Mr Adam's signed constitution, available to any member of the community who wishes to see them.
It is ironic that this letter appears only a week after a ten thousand pound drainage job was completed in the Glen. This was to be the first of a list that I had agreed with the council officers, but now that Mr Adam is going to take over the Glen I have no problem in stepping aside.
I am astounded and appalled that any adult resident would voice such a tirade of abuse against the efforts of so many to regenerate our community. Would Mr Adam prefer it to have stayed in the pits of depravation? He claims the youth are not interested; how crass. Is the whole purpose not to give the youth of today a future for tomorrow?
Councillor McLardy's full letter and further criticism by the football club are in the Largs & Millport Weekly News of December 30
