Thistle boss Stuart Davidson is hoping to make more signings as they attempt to end their barren league run of eight defeats on the spin.

The manager said he was still looking to strengthen, after the signing of former Player of the Year Iain Fisher, who was immediately thrown into action against Pollok.

Stuart commented: "First and foremost, I thought the Pollok game was a massive improvement on the Kilbirnie Ladeside game. People will look at the score and say it is another heavy defeat, but we played well for a good period of the game.

"We showed a lot more fight, character and urgency. Take away the result, and I was pleased with the desire and effort, but if you look at the goals conceded, they came from basic mistakes.

"Effectively that is what killed us - the boys put a lot of hard work into the game, so it was a bit soul destroying at the end."

The Largs manager was pleased with the impact of new signing Iain Fisher, and said: "He left Largs for Hurlford 18 months ago, and we wished him all the best - he went to Hurlford, and then went on to Beith, where he became a Scottish Cup winner, so he comes back to Largs a much more experienced player, having won the Scottish Cup, and that can only help us.

"Iain took a real sore one early in the match, and he believes the Pollok player could have been red carded. His leg was in some mess, but you sometimes get competitive tackles like that. For me, there were too many bookings for us on Saturday, but that incident may be set the tone. Half of them weren't bookings but that sometimes happens.

"It was a big blow to go 1-0 down right on half-time, and it was an uncharacteristic mistake from Laurie who has been absolutely magnificent for us this season.

"I was pleased that we got it back to 1-1 almost straight away at the start of the second half. We really frustrated Pollok the way we were set up, and we were winning the battles in on the park, and even when we went 2-1 down we were in with a real chance, but losing a goal from a free header was poor, and they got the goal in injury time after a mis-kick."

Stuart admitted that it was frustrating to be given a free Saturday after a clear improvement in the display, if not the result.

He said: "The break hasn't worked out too well for us, as I'd rather have had a match after the good urgency we showed last week. It would have been good to build on it from Saturday, but instead we will have a bounce game, and a bit of bonding afterwards, and stay on for a bit in Largs."
