Two early goals helped Largs see off visitors Drongan at Bowencraig, but a far from convincing display from the local side almost saw the visitors leave with a share of the spoils.
Player manager Alistair McGowan put Largs in front after ten minutes, finishing confidently from close range after a quick throw-in from Scott Cameron was flicked into his path by David Mills.
Largs' lead was doubled shortly afterwards when a deep cross from Ryan McMunn was inadvertently headed into his own net by a Drongan defender.
From the beginning of the second period, it was clear Drongan felt at least a point was there for the taking, and there was plenty of traffic towards the Largs goal.
Ten minutes into the second half,  a low Drongan drive from the edge of the box made its way through a ruck of bodies and past David Cunningham in the Largs goal.
The hosts had Cunningham to thank on two occasions but despite the Drongan pressure, Largs had chances of their own to increase their lead. A Stuart Turley header from a corner went inches wide and a Martin Dunlop effort from the edge of the box was pushed over by the Drongan keeper. Sub Gordon Smith was then unlucky to see his attempt come back off the bar, after being set up by fellow sub Reece Clark.
Largs were reduced to ten men for the closing stages when McGowan was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.
Hearts were in mouths for Largs in injury time when a Dunlop header from a Drongan throw bounced agonisingly towards his own goal. With Cunningham stranded, it clipped the outside of the post and went behind.
Largs AFC would like to thank JG Sharps and the Largs Thistle community club.
