Thistle boss Stuart Davidson is looking for a strong reaction from his players after their surprise defeat at home to Troon on Saturday.

On Saturday, Largs visit Larkhall, Gasworks Park. 2pm kick-off, looking to get their second win on the board after a mixed bag of results to their McBookie.com First Division league campaign so far - a win, draw and defeat.

He said: "Our boys will roll our sleeves up for battle. We have let them know that the display against Troon wasn't good enough ,and we are hoping to get a reaction, and I know they have it in them. We expect Larkhall to be a typically stuffy team, and we are up for the fight."

Reflecting on the Troon defeat, Stuart said: "Obviously we are disappointed, but I didn't feel 4-1 truly reflected the balance of the game. They scored a couple of late goals which made things look a lot worse. The early goal was a great strike, and there was not much we could do about that. As much as we weren't playing well, the penalty might have been a penalty but I don't know why it was a red card, and then we were up against it.

"I wasn't happy with the first half performance, but I will give the boys a bit of credit as we pulled it back to 2-1, and we maybe could have had another penalty.

"I don't know why their player wasn't booked or red carded for our penalty. It was one of those days, that even when we weren't playing well, decisions didn't go our way. We could have got something out of the game, and Troon were starting to panic."

Iain Fisher will be training on Wednesday evening after picking up an ankle injury at Hurlford, but midfielder Ryan McKie, who has been injured since the Luncarty friendly, requires a knee scan. Keeper Sean Graham pulled out of the warm-up for the Troon game with a thigh injury.

Assistant manager Martin Crawford added: "The boys know that their performance dropped of what is expected of them against Troon. It is important to remember that this is largely a new set of players from last season, and they are a good group, as they have already shown. We have faith in them getting it back together. It was disappointing on Saturday as we know the players are capable of much better than that, and we are confident we can turn it back round again."
