Cumnock 5 Largs Thistle U17s 6

Thistle advanced to the semi-final of the Presidents Cup with a late winner, in a bad tempered game, at Townhead Park in Cumnock.
Largs netted first when left back Greg Kean played a one two with Reece Allen before setting up Griffins who scored with a composed left foot finish.
Thistle doubled their lead on the half hour when an in swinging corner from Kean was misjudged by the Cumnock keeper and went directly into the top corner of the net.
Largs looked well in control of the game until five minutes before the break when they were hit by three quick fire goals.
The first was a header into the top corner following a free-kick, the second was a defensive mistake which allowed the centre forward to run through and finish and the third was a deflected shot which looped up in the air and found the top corner, leaving Crawford Kenefick helpless.
Thistle rallied at the start of the second half and piled on the pressure. They drew level when Griffins was upended by two players as he prepared to shoot and Kean made no mistake form the spot.
Five minutes later and Largs were in front once more. A long ball from Jamie Morgan towards Griffin, saw the centre forward taken out as he ran clear. The penalty was awarded and again Kean fired his spot kick high into the net to complete his hat trick.
Thistle doubled their lead when Lee McShane fought his way to the byline, through three challenges, and cut the ball back to Adam Graham. Graham then squared for Griffins to slide it home from six yards.
Cumnock got one back when the referee appeared to play advantage after a foul on McShane in the middle of the park but the ball broke for the Cumnock player who was allowed to play the left winger in to finish low past Kenefick.
Cumnock levelled the game direct from a free kick with quarter of an hour to go. The low cross / shot was missed by everyone and crept in at the far post.
Largs continued to press forward and deservedly scored the winner five minutes from time. A slick passing move down the Thistle found its way to Iain Bell on the edge of the box and he fired a screamer, low into the bottom corner of the net.
