Largs Colts 2002s 12 Kilmarnock Portland 0

Largs Colts 2002 beat the chill to hit a 12 goal masterclass against their Killie opponents.

Like the winter sunshine, Colts shone throughout during their first competitive match since 18 November against Kilmarnock Portland at a bitterly cold Barrfields on Saturday morning.

The boys had a tough warm-up on Saturday, clearing the hailstones off the park allowing the game to go ahead.

Colts started the match with a high intensity about them, both when pressing without the ball and when going forward with it. They found themselves seven goals up at half-time having played some great quick passing football with lots of movement and composure towards goal.

The second half started with a less intense feel to it but credit to the boys they stuck at it and finished the game at a high level scoring another five to the delight of the local support. A great squad performance with seven players on the scoresheet, but just as pleasing was the clean sheet kept by Captain Johnny Irwin.

Manager Andy Smith said: “Man of the match goes to Jack Loudon who scored 2 scorchers and played his part in controlling the midfield as well as showing a great range of passes. Well done boys.”
