Finding the top keepers of tomorrow is the aim of the game of the Largs Goalkeeping Academy which returns to Barrfields Park for 2018.

The event was a huge success last year, starting off with 14 local goalkeepers in attendance, and has already been pulling off some great saves, meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm.

The young shot stoppers are put through their paces by head development coach David Scott, and it is proving great fun for boys and girls.

David said: “We are absolutely delighted with the response from the goalkeepers in the Largs area and beyond. After the success of our Academy in Greenock, we were asked by interested parents to expand our services down to the Largs area and we are thrilled that we did. We would like to thank Largs Thistle for allowing us to use their fantastic facility and we would encourage any young Goalkeeper to come along and enjoy themselves within a fun, challenging and rewarding environment.

"We believe a Goalkeeper is a unique and specialist position in a football team, and as such requires unique and specialist Coaching to assist you on your journey to being the best!

"Indeed, we take great pride in offering the chance for boys and girls from the age of 8 years old, to participate within professional coaching sessions that are sure to improve their performance. The academy allows goalkeepers to learn and fine tune their skills and techniques allowing them to improve their overall game performance and ultimately become a better goalkeeper.

"The Academy programs cover all aspects of Goalkeeping, ensuring Goalkeeping improve their physical performance and knowledge of the position. Our specially designed coaching methods include participation within technical exercises, but most important of all, adequate amount of time is given to each Goalkeeper in realistic match related practices, giving you the edge once you return to your team."
