LARGS UNITED 2 ARDROSSAN CASTLE ROVERS O
United scraped a win against a gritty Ardrossan side at Bowencraig last Saturday. With both sides struggling to find their rhythm chances were few and far between. The first real chance came in the 26 minute after a good effort from Giovino which whistled just past the post. Then on 29 minutes another effort from just outside the box from Barr sailed just wide. The highlight of the first half was the opening goal, a lovely curled effort into the top corner by Mitchell 4 minutes before the break.
The second half started the same as the first had ended with Largs on top but Ardrossan slowly came back into the game and Largs had to dig deep to keep them at bay. A couple of efforts by Scott and Sanderson again from long range went close without troubling the Ardrossan keeper. The second goal arrived on 82 minutes after a free kick from Giovino was drilled into the bottom corner with the keeper routed to the spot which secured the three points for Largs. In a scrappy affair Mark Campbell was voted Man of the Match which was sponsored by A.D.Paton the Butchers.
