Thistle boss Stuart Davidson reckons the signings of Eddie Walton and Iain Fisher have helped bolster the squad just at the right time.

The Barrfields men host Cumnock on Saturday in the McBookie.com 1st Division, 1.45pm kick-off at Barrfields, and the club endured a heavy defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season, and will have a point to prove.

Stuart said: "The players will be wanting to make amends. It was a bad result we had down there at Townhead Park, and what was equally bad was that we didn't compete against them. First and foremost is that we compete against them and show that game was a one-off. Cumnock know they won't get it easy, but there is no revenge factor from us. We have got six games on the board from the last two games ,and we just want to get as many points as possible, and try and crawl our way back into the crowd."

Stuart was delighted at the impact of new signings Eddie Walton and Iain Fisher in recent games.

He said: "Eddie will bring great experience as he has showed in the last couple of games. He is a calming influence at the back, and it provides more competition in the side.

"Having both Eddie and Iain Fisher has provided more experience from the top level, and you can already see it is benefitting the team. In the last couple of games, they have been great for the club."

Midfielder Gary Fleming and forward Robert Love are both suspended for Saturday's game, but Thistle report a clean bill of health as they head into a vitally important fixture, which could lift Largs off bottom spot, and three points behind Cumnock with a game in hand.

Both teams contested a classic at the end of last season with Largs triumphing 4-3 at Barrfields, and Stuart said: "If you offered me 4-3 or 1-0 now, I would take it. I don't care, as long as we give a good account of ourselves, and we get the three points."
