Inverclyde Cricket Club is based in Gourock and is a member of the Western District Cricket Union, competing in the Western Union cricket league. In October 2014, as part of a three year development plan, the club launched an initiative entitled Growing Cricket in Inverclyde, full details of which are available on the Inverclyde Cricket Club website www.inverclydecricket.co.uk .

The initiative is aimed at ensuring the continuing development of the sport within the local community by increasing interest and participation across all age ranges and providing opportunities to anyone interested in trying cricket for the first time or returning to the sport in whatever capacity.

Head coach Iain Gibson, who lives in Largs, said: "During the season, as well as competitive matches each week, there is a weekly club night each Thursday when junior and senior players have the opportunity to participate together.

"In addition, from February until April there are weekly indoor practices. These are held at our new indoor facility at St Columba’s High School in Gourock, close to their home ground.

"We have an active and growing junior section which offers children the opportunity to enjoy cricket in a fun and safe environment under the tutelage of our Junior Convener and coaching team, who also work in bringing cricket into the local schools. The juniors meet every Saturday morning (10 till 12) in St Columba’s High School, Gourock from October through to April/May when they move outdoors at Gourock Park."
