Inverclyde Sports Centre is to open its doors for a community open day, but this time with a twist!

sportscotland has teamed up with Glasgow-based company, Voomfit to bring the Glasgow Hang Challenge to Largs for the first time.

Voomfit has created a platform to bring all your fitness resources together in one place and allow people to find their local providers easily. They originally took their hang bar challenge to the Scottish Fitness Network convention last year with great success. Hundreds of people felt they had what it takes to hang from a bar for longer than anyone else. Apparently a lot harder than it sounds!

Following that success, Voomfit have teamed up with 14 different locations around Glasgow and the West to tour the hang bar.

The National Centre’s big day is on Sunday 21 January, the hang bar will be in position between 9am and 4pm within the centre’s main concourse area for everyone to come and have a go. The grand prize is £2500 and there’s also a daily prize of £100 for anyone who has a go. Inverclyde is also giving you the chance to win a one month membership or a Polar watch.

There’s something for everyone with free activities for the kids plus tours of our fitness suite and free fitness class taster sessions from the centre's newly launched timetable.

There will also be a guest appearance from Bonnie the Seal, mascot of Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

Vicki Nocker, marketing manager, said: "We would love the community to come and join us for a day of free activity and a bit of competition fun with the hangbar challenge. The open day will take place from 10am – 4pm – drop in anytime!"
