The indoor winter tennis league is underway and Largs is sending two teams to the event which is run throughout the forthcoming months.
Largs 1 got off to an opening win against Kilmarnock 2. Sue Wilkie and Malcolm McAulay, fresh from triumphing in the Largs Masters tournament, triumphed by 27 games to 7, while Sarah Cunningham and Derek Ballantyne were victorious by 16 games to 11. The overall score saw Largs 1 win 43-18 Largs 2 team lost out against Troon. Mary Lunday and Andy Auld lost 26-15, while husband and wife team Ian and Anne Armstrong were involved in a tight battle and drew 10 games apiece. The overall score was a Troon win 36-25.
The matches are played at Prestwick indoor tennis centre on Sunday evenings. Largs 1 go forward to the quarter finals to play old rivals Stewarton on 17 November, and Largs 2 play in the consolation quarter finals on 15 December against Kilmaurs or Kilmarnock 1.
