A rare photo has surfaced online at our Facebook page from Largs Tennis Club, believed to date back to its forming in 1920.
Thanks to Raibeart MacAoidh who provided us with this photo which used to hang in the ticket office of the old wooden tennis pavilion at Douglas Park. Date unknown, but it was possibly taken at the opening of the courts in 1920.
Current Largs tennis secretary Gavin MacLellan said: "That's a great photo - wow, how tennis clothes fashion has changed!"
It sparked other memories too.
Ian Dalgleish said: "I played tennis there in the 60s and remember that old pavilion. There was a veranda along the front. George Martin was the groundsman."
Jennifer Freed Shea added: "We all spent a lot of time at the Dougie park, waiting for a chance to get on the courts and just hanging out!"
