Largs Gents and ladies first teams suffered defeats in their final matches of the season to consign them to the Ayrshire Second Division next season.
The Gents lost 9-0 at Ayr 1 as the pairings were James McNaught and Malcolm McAulay, Lewis McAulay and Derek Ballantyne, David Corr and Peter Valerio Cpt.
The Ladies also lost at home to Troon 1. The pairings were Nancy Bunyan and Hazel Koerner, Lesley MacLellan (Cpn) and Sue Wilkie, Morcella Taylor and Margaret Gibson. Both sides will hope to re-charge next year and go for promotion.
Largs Ladies 2 played Ayr last Monday and lost 5 sets to 4, On Wednesday, they played Prestwick and won 9-0. They play their last match against Prestwick at home on Wednesday. The highest they can finish is 2nd in the Ayrshire Third Division. The squad includes Fiona Page, Anne McIntyre, Claire Byers (Cpn), Vivian Bruce, Mary Lunday and Linda Cowden.
In a tight finish for Largs Gents 2, they finished up promoted by only a three sets advantage after finishing on the same points total as Ayr 3.
A mixed doubles tournament took place on Sunday afternoon at Douglas Park. The overall winners were Alan Taylor and Mary Lunday. This week, members of the club are heading to Wimbledon, alas not as players but as spectators!
