Largs Gents 1st team got off the mark in Division Two of the Ayrshire Tennis doubles league.
At Douglas Park, Largs 1 defeated Ayr Lawn 2 by six sets to three at Douglas Park. Ian McShane and Lewis McAulay lost 6-4 6-0 6-0, and Andy Auld and Malcolm McAulay won 6-4 6-1 7-5, Gavin MacLellan and David Anton won three sets to love.
Largs Ladies first team suffered a nine sets to love reversal against a very strong Prestwick 1 side in the First Division. The team were Hazel Koerner and Lesley MacLellan (vice captain), Janie McKenzie and Chris Reekie, and Mary Lunday and Claire Byers. Largs Ladies 2 team, captained by Nancy Bunyan, recorded a good win against Troon 2 in Division Three. The 1st couple, Margaret Gibson and Trudy Coyle won 3 sets (6-3, 6-2 & 6–1) The 2nd couple, Linda Cowden and Nancy also won 3 sets (6-4, 6-1 & 7-5) but 3rd couple, Tiara Hutcheson and Alison Bruce lost three sets (2-6, 2-6 & 1-6).
And in Divison Three, Largs Gents 2 lost out at Troon, with the only winners of the evening being the teenage duo of Ryan Bunyan and Neil Jones, who beat an experienced Troon pairing including Tennis Ayrshire secretary John Frame by two sets to one. Calum Corral and Alan McEwing lost 3-6, 3-6, 6-2, and Crawford Boyd and Andy Jones (captain) lost in straight sets.
