Largs, who have lost to Rutherglen in their last three encounters, are hoping to make it fourth time lucky this Saturday to maintain their unbeaten run to the start of the season.

Bryan Slavin’s side travel to the New Southcroft Park Stadium on Saturday, eager to continue their encouraging start to the season, after three wins on the spin. It is a 2pm kick-off.

Thistle are heading into an important run of fixtures, with a visit to Premiership Troon in the New Holdings West of Scotland Cup on Saturday October 10, followed by league leaders Clydebank at Barrfields on the 17th.

Bryan said: “I expect a very different encounter on Saturday to the last time we played Rutherglen in the Kilbirnie tournamment. I don’t place much stock on that match as it was only a friendly tournament.

“We also played Rutherglen during a bad run of results last season, and I personally didn’t think there was much in that game, and we chucked away some cheap goals, and struggled to bounce back from that.” The ‘Theesel’ boss admitted that he was not overly happy with having a two week break from action, and although Largs had asked for Saturday 19th off, if he had realised that Largs would be out of action the following week, he would have avoided doing so.

Bryan said: "I feel we will be more tuned in, and we are confident that we will be going there to impose ourselves right away. We made some attempts for a league game last Saturday but didn’t have any joy and had to train on Saturday. We are looking forward to getting back into action for next part of the season."
