Glasgow East U19’s 1 Largs Thistle U19s 8

Largs travelled to play Glasgow East Boys Club U19’s currently sitting third in the Paisley & Johnstone league and who had previously reached the Quarter Final of the West Regional Cup for this match played on a very heavy grass pitch at Hagghill Sports Club.
Thistle were quick on the attack with Captain Adam Paterson McKeen’s shot beating the opposition goalkeeper to put Thistle one up in the first ten minutes. Next up it was Jay Little who drove forward from midfield and saw his shot hit the net to score the second goal 2-0. At the other end Largs goalkeeper Adam McElroy had to make a double save as the Glasgow team pushed forward to try to get back into the game. Thistle had various chances by Jay Little and the influential Captain Adam Paterson McKeen who both were controlling midfield well, with their defensive duties and driving forward runs. Goal number three came from new signing Ashton Prince out on the right hand side and his shot flew passed the goalkeeper, 3-0 Thistle at Largs were now well in control of the game and started to play some nice passing football resulting in a goal from returning player Ross Mackay who has been out injured most of the season with a leg break ,scoring to make it 4-0. Thistle were clearly enjoying their football and the fifth goal came from good team build up with the hard working midfield playing in Ross Colquhoun and the speedy defender made no mistake scoring to make it 5-0. Caleb Reid’s strong running and good support play from Jack Rafferty was rewarded by continually keeping the pressure on the Glasgow defence and scored to make it 6-0. Thistle brought on their substitutes in the second half and all made valuable contributions to the team. Credit to the Glasgow team for not giving up completely and indeed forced the Largs keeper Adam McElroy into making several excellent saves throughout the game. Jack Rafferty scored to make the score 7-1 Thistle. Caleb Reid claimed an assist by forcing the opposition defender into an error for an own goal 8-1 final score. This was an excellent performance from the whole Thistle team showing great determination and positive attitude, both in scoring goals and excellent defending.
A good debut also from Callum Irving fitting in well to the team.
