Largs Thistle 5 Greenock Juniors 0

Rampant Thistle gave Greenock a grilling with man of the moment Scott Adam notching an impressive hat-trick.

This was a scintillating showing from Stewart Davidson's side who are shaping up well for the new season, which begins a week on Wednesday.

It was another dominant display from the Barrfields troops, but Greenock more than made up the numbers, including ex-Largs midfielder Glenn Thomson, and had some dangerous early chances.

Martin Orr opened the scoring for 'Theesel', and Adam put Largs two goals to the good with an arching header after a good cross.

Adam made it 3-0 before half-time after fastening on to an excellent fast paced cross from the right after good jinking running from the lively Laurie McMaster.

Thistle carried on their stifling attacking style in the second half, and  McMaster then netted his first goal in a Thistle jersey as his outstretched foot connected with a dangerous low cross on 73 minutes.

Adam went close with a header which just flew wide of the post, before adding to his tally once more with a feinting run from the right hand side and poking the ball past the keeper on 76 minutes.

Adam nearly made it four goals for the second consecutive game as a glorious curling shot dipped and smashed off the crossbar. It was another great move and it was a shame for the busy striker as his industry and invention merited it.

But Largs certainly didn't rest on their laurels with McMaster's angled lob over the outrushing keeper having to be cleared by defenders as it crept goalward, and sub Jamie Campbell came close to making it number six in the dying minutes as he drilled in a rasping drive which finished up just wide of the left hand post.

Largs: Graham, Ashe, McVey, Gilbride, Jamieson, Burden, Orr, Muir, Adam, Byrne, McMaster. Subs: Campbell, Fleming, Little, Fisher, McKie, trialist.
