Largs Thistle U17s 2 Caledonian 0

Thistle made it five wins out of six to go top of the West of Scotland League with a comfortable win at Barrfields.

The Largs kids took the lead in just eight minutes when a Greg Kean corner from the right was met seven yards out by Adam Graham, who finished with a neat side foot volley.

Thistle continued to dominate but a combination of poor finishing and good goal keeping meant that they had to wait to right on half time to double their lead.

Robert Jack took advantage of hesitation in the Caledonian defence to win the ball 30 yards out. He drove into the box and squared for David Griffins to finish neatly from just inside the box.

After the break Largs continued to pile on the pressure with Cameron Florence and Iain Bell both being denied by the woodwork.

Thistle were then given a reprieve midway through the second half when Caledonian were awarded, and then missed, a penalty.

The Largs defence had failed to clear a corner and the shot at goal was adjudged to have struck a defender's hand. The Caledonian penalty taker then blazed the spot kick high over Crawford Kennefick's bar.

Thistle continued to dominate the game but couldn’t add to their two goals and ran out easy winners.
