Port Glasgow 3 Largs Thistle 3

A late equaliser from Kevin Struthers sealed a draw at Port Glasgow at Parklea 3G on Wednesday.
It could have been billed as old Largs versus new Largs given the amount of former Thistle players who featured for the Port in this friendly.
Largs got the ball rolling after a good opening spell with a great finish from Alex McWatters following a throughball from Laurie McMaster on 25 minutes.
However, Port hit back three minutes later with Barri Stanton getting on the scoresheet after a good turn and finish.
Joel Kasabandi had the ball in the back of the net for Largs but was unfortunate to see the goal ruled out by the referee due to an infringement on the keeper, although it was a perfectly good goal Thistle boss Stuart Davidson thought.
Jasper Donnolly put the Port 2-1 up on 53 minutes, before Largs hit back thanks to the returning Jamie Campbell on 80 minutes, with Scott Adam also coming on as a sub and looking dangerous.
And it was former Thistle top scorer Andy Monaghan who put the home side 3-2 up on 85 minutes, but the Barrfields side equalised after a good attacking move resulted in the keeper parrying the ball and Struthers responded with a well controlled volley into the back of the net on 87 minutes.
Thistle boss Stuart Davidson said: "Port Glasgow are a quite a good side, and there were a couple of old Largs faces which gave the match quite an edge, with ex team mates perhaps wanting to get one over each other. It was a tough game.  I felt we could have defended better at times, but it was a good competitive work-out and a good game. It was well worth having the exercise.
"It was important for players to get valuable match time including Creag Little who is suspended, and I thought Joel Kasabundi scored a perfectly good goal, but the ref chopped it off; I think it is a case of giving too much protection to goalkeepers these days.
"I would like to a big thanks to Paul Lamont for stepping into in goals with injuries to Ross Lundy and Sean Graham, and Stephen Connick was unavailable."
Largs: Lamont, Orr, McMaster, Trialist, Jamieson, Little, Muir, Ashe, Kasubandi, Struthers, McWaters. Subs: Fisher, Campbell, Adam, Gilbride, McKie.
