Largs have lined up a festive friendly at home to Kilwinning on Wednesday December 27, 1pm kick-off at Barrfields Park.
Thistle boss Stuart Davidson has praised his players for coming through a tricky encounter with Rutherglen on Saturday to keep their promotion hopes on track.
After a stop-start couple of weeks due to postponements, Largs were looking for a morale boosting win, and goals in each half from Ryan McKie and top scorer Scott Adam were enough to see off nine man Rutherglen.
Stuart said: “First and foremost it was a deserved win for the boys, they showed a real hunger and desire to go out and get the victory.
“We set our stall out early doors, and it was good to get that early goal, and we could have had a penalty or two which could have made it more comfortable for us.
“We wanted to get in and round about Rutherglen who are a team capable of beating any team in this league on their day.”
However, Stuart admitted after a good first half, it was a tougher second period, and said: “Finding the same levels as the first half to match that in the second is sometimes difficult.
“I think the sending off changed it a bit. We have been involved in a couple of games where we have been down to ten men and been the better team, and sometimes it is important not to underestimate that.
“The tempo was high in the first half, and we stressed that before the game. Rutherglen were coming down from Glasgow, and sides from the central belt always have some dig about them.”
The Largs gaffer praised Ryan McKie for his second goal in two games, and Scott Adam for his skilful lob over the keeper near the end of the encounter and said: “You expect that from Scott Adam, you’d be surprised if he had gone through the game without a goal, and it was a high quality finish.”
Thistle forward Joel Kasubandi, who has only been a fringe player this season, has been put out on loan to Ashfield, while Largs have brought in a New Farm Loch amateurs keeper Blair Cousar to provide back-up for Sean Graham. Thistle keeper Ross Lundy has been unavailable to play recently due to work commitments.
It promises to be an exciting second half to the season in 2018 with four direct promotion places up for grabs, and fifth and sixth place securing a play-off in the McBookie.com West First Division.
Largs next competitive game is away to Maryhill in the league on Saturday January 6 2018.
