Love is in the air at Barrfields on Valentines Day!

Thistle fans just love a goalscorer, so fans will be delighted that Largs have signed an experienced ex-senior centre forward in a Valentines Day deal.

Largs have brought in John Carter who has played upfront for Queens Park, Glenafton and Greenock Juniors, and it is a double celebration as today is his 31st birthday.

Largs manager Stuart Davidson said: "John played with Greenock Juniors before and featured for Queens Park for a wee bit. I tried to sign him before he went to Glenafton. He ended up back at Greenock and we were looking for a striker.

"We are delighted to get him - he is a player I have been after for a while. He is very quick, fit and pushes himself very hard and can score goals as well. I am pretty sure he scored against us for Glenafton last season. John is very mobile, experienced and has played at senior level.

"He still has a bit of work to do on his fitness but it will be good to see him fully sharp and when he is fit."

John is signed and available and will be in the squad for Saturday for the visit to Kello.

Stuart said: "It gives us extra competition. We have three great forwards in Scott Adam, Ryan McKie and Kevin Struthers, and it is good to add another striker to provide strong competition, and I am delighted to have the quality of that four to choose from.

"Kello is a bit of a trek, specially this time of year, it is going to be a battle and we have to work really hard.

"Kello is a tough place to go to and they gave us a game at Barrfields, so we know we are in for a tough game and we know the boys will be up for it. John has a good character and attitude and I am really looking forward to seeing him getting involved and making a big impact for the rest of the season."
