Thistle are looking to continue their 100% away record in 2018 as they head to Rutherglen in the McBookie.com Super West 1st Division, 2pm kick-off.

It is one defeat in eight for Stuart Davidson's side who are in the mix for promotion after another important victory on the road.

Largs remain in fourth spot in the highly competitive division, and are hoping to round off February with another top performance and then push on to the Premier Division after the bitter disappointment of relegation last season.

Stuart said: "Rutherglen gave us a good game at Barrfields, and we came out on top of that. They have a wee bit of quality about them, and while Rutherglen is always a tough place to go, we have been at Kello, Darvel and Maryhill in recent weeks, and picked up wins so we should hold no fear. We are getting to that stage of the season when none of the teams want to drop points, and you need to keep winning in this league. We need to make sure we take care of our own business first and foremost rather than look at other results."

Looking back on Saturday's hard fought 2-1 victory at Kello, Stuart was delighted with the points, but felt that Thistle could have been more comfortable in the end.

Stuart said: "It would have been a bad reflection of the match if it had finished 2-2.

"We started very well in the opening 20 minutes, but we have to make the most of our opportunities when they arise. The conditions underfoot were not the best, but if we had taken a wee bit of extra care in that opening period, we could have scored some goals. I had a wee word with the players at half-time about the extra quality we were needing, and the boys took it on board and scored two great goals after the re-start.

"We could have been a bit more comfortable but we came here and got three good points. I have to commend the boys - it was a great finish by Gary Fleming after a good set up from Jamie Campbell, and McKie put in a good cross for the smallest man in the park in Alex McWaters to score with a header. He did a hell of a lot of tracking back as did all the players.
"It was a bit edgy towards the end, and we really shouldn't have been in that position, but we managed to get the result in the end.
"I was very frustrated on the touchline that it came to that when it shouldn't have. I praised the boys for the hard work in getting the result but it could have been different, and we have to take care of our own chances and not give other teams opportunities at the end when we should have been well in the clear."
