It was well played to Largs who dominated much of this affair and saw off a late rally from the home side to collect all three points in their promotion push.

In the end, quality finishes from Gary Fleming and Alex McWaters after good team moves were enough to overcome the Kirkconnell men on a very tricky and bumpy surface.

It made good passing something of a lottery throughout the encounter as the ball constantly held up, but Thistle were on top for long periods, and should have been ahead before the interval.

Thistle dictated the early pace with an early Alex McWaters free kick curling narrowly wide of the left post, and Gary Fleming bustling clear only to be well challenged as he attempted to pull the trigger. Creag Little towered above the defence to send in a dangerous header from a corner which had to be cleared off the line.

Despite the visitors dominating open play, Kello had one of the clearer openings after a kick out from Largs keeper Blair Cousar was picked up by Greg Miller whose diagonal effort from the right hand side flashed by the left post in 15 minutes.

Largs were growing stronger as half-time approached with Ryan McKie in particular applying the pressure, and doing well to jink by defenders, and setting up chances for his team-mates.

Scott Adams thrashed an effort off the ground and bounced up over keeper Dunsmore’s head to come crashing off the crossbar as Largs looked the likelier in the first half.

Thistle scored the opener on 49 minutes and it was a corker of a goal as a good run down the right by Jamie Campbell set up midfield general Gary Fleming who smashed the ball high into the net. See clip below.

And it was a similar avenue which resulted in Thistle moving two goals up as a cross by Ryan McKie was headed home by Alex McWaters to make the game seemingly safe for Largs on 54 minutes. See clip below.

A number of chances for Thistle then followed with new signing John Carter coming off the bench and having a couple of good opportunities.

But in the final ten minutes, Kello halved the deficit as Ramage’s free kick into the box was headed home by Liam Fleming. See clip below.

There was some late drama as Kello missed a good chance, and had a shout for a penalty as they desperately claimed handball, but the referee waved away all claims and Largs held out for an important three points despite a tricky finale.

Kello certainly turned the screw in the last ten minutes of this game, but Thistle should have been well out in front by then, and hopefully with new signing Carter, there will lots more goals to come in the final nine games of the season.
