Thistle assistant boss Martin Crawford has praised goal-getter John Carter after his impressive display on Saturday.
The former Glenafton and Queen's Park marksman was one of the stand-outs in a strong team performance at Portland Park, before going off injured near the end.
But it is hoped that it is only short term, and he should be back in the side for this Saturday in the big match against Kilsyth, who also pulled off an impressive result with a 3-2 victory over second placed Renfrew last weekend.
It is a 2pm kick-off at Barrfields for what many see as a must-win clash for Thistle.
Martin said: "John could have had a goal in every game he has played but when he came in he was quite rusty and wasn't quite fit but he has worked hard at training, and is beginning to show what he can do with goals against Irvine Meadow and Troon. The boy is gifted with pace, and nobody likes playing against pace, and I sure that was a bit of a nightmare for Troon.
"He will get in good areas and is not frightened, and will always have his say. John knows where the goal is too - and that has obviously paid off for us,
Talking about the high tempo start which blew away Troon, Martin said: "I am delighted - it is something we planned for. We knew we had to get the winning streak off again and we made careful plans and thankfully all the boys worked very hard and kept their discipline and scored two good goals in the first half.
"We tend to score good goals but sometimes give away cheap goals and we have stopped that rut now and hopefully this is how we are going to perform for the rest of the season."
"It makes it even sweeter that we won at a tough ground, against a team who score a lot of goals; we are really pleased and that is great going into next week's game against Kilsyth.
