Largs are craving some cup success as they face Darvel in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup quarter final on Saturday at Barrfields Park, 2pm kick-off.
Cup runs have been few and far between in recent years, and Largs now have a tilt at a semi-final spot against Premier opposition - Cumnock, Kilbirnie or Glenafton.
After impressive victories on the road at Hurlford and Cambuslang in the short space of four days, Largs have had to go FOURTEEN days without a fixture at a crucial period of the season.
And gaffer Davidson said that it is frustrating still not knowing when Largs are going to play their last two league games at Shettleston and Cumbernauld.
Results didn't go Thistle's way at the weekend as they were edged out of the direct promotion places to fifth spot, but now know that two wins are enough for promotion back to the Premier.
The good news about the extended wait is that it will also allow recent signing John Carter another week to build up his fitness after coming off the bench against Cambuslang and impressing up front.
Davidson admitted: "It is a bit frustrating at this stage of the season to be without a league fixture for two weeks, and not even knowing when the games will be scheduled.
"The junior game is a good product - this this lets it down a bit.
"These are massive games for us to try and get back to the Premier."
Thistle had to make do with a training session as don't want to run the risk of any more injuries after losing Creag Little with a fractured ankle last week.
Davidson explained: "We don't have the biggest squad, so we decided to have a training session on Saturday, and it allows some of the players to get over some niggles.
"It is good to have John Carter back and it is healthy for competition for places."
Looking at this Saturday's Darvel challenge, the Thistle manager pointed out that the East Ayrshire side had been tricky opponents this season.
Back in November, Largs were involved in a topsy turvy affair at Barrfields Park as they moved two goals up in the first ten minutes, before going 3-2 down, with Ross Lundy saving a penalty in the last game he played for the club. Thistle sealed a point after a second half penalty.
Goals from Martin Orr and Creag Little made the difference in January's away encounter.
Davidson said: "We are looking for a good display as we have been doing alright and winning games. That is five league games in a row that we have won, and six games in a row including the Hurlford game in the cup.
"It would be great to get to a semi final."
Despite the fixture wait, Davidson believes Largs are in a better position than they were a month ago.
He said: "Back then we were relying on other teams dropping points, but now we are in position that we have it in our own hands. The boys are really hungry, and it has taken till now for some of them to realise we are a good team, and we can get a bit of success this season.
"We are not promoted, and we are in a quarter final, and the boys have the bit between their teeth, and they must keep doing what they have been doing in the past six games.
"The pressure is now on us a bit. Midway through the season you know if you don't win games, you can recover. We now need to show a bit of sacrifice, and the boys need to keep looking after their bodies and keep their fitness up, and be ready for the challenge.
"I have every faith in the players with the work we have been putting in training. This is why we are involved in football - to get success - and it important at this stage of the season to have a strong mentality."
