It makes a change for a referee being booked, but that is exactly what has happened as well known ex-whistler John Rowbotham is a guest speaker at this year's Largs Thistle Sportsmen's dinner.
Now retired, John was previously a FIFA referee, and took charge at four World Cup qualifiers.
Instantly recognisable for his 6'3'' frame and shaved head, he was a favourite with both home and away fans.
This year’s Sportsmen’s dinner will be held on Saturday 10 May at Inverclyde Sports Centre. Speakers also include ex Scotland and Celtic star Murdo MacLeod.
