Largs manager Sandy MacLean dramatically quit at the end of Saturday's defeat to Greenock, and the search is now underway for his successor.

Sandy's backroom team of assistant manager, Colin Lindsay, and coach David McLennan have also departed.

The club website said: "Everyone at Largs Thistle would like to thank Sandy for his time with the club and wish him every success for the future.

"To apply for the vacant role of manager please contact Match Secretary Morag Soutter on 07533238655."

Speaking after the Greenock defeat at Barrfields, Sandy said: "Things have not gone the way we had anticipated and it is very frustrating for us.

"There were a lot of senior players who were wonderful for the club but it came to the end for them as well, so we had to bring in younger players.

"You have to learn quickly in this league, but unfortunately they have not learned quickly enough, but I take 100% of the blame for that. It wasn't just about getting us up the division, but it was all about the transition. It has perhaps taken longer than it perhaps should have."

Largs lost 4-1 to Greenock in a game which is likened to a 'derby' as the majority of the Thistle team are made up of Greenock players, while a number of ex-Largs players including Ryan McWilliams, Martin Dow and Tam Jamieson featured for the visitors.
