Largs Thistle would like to thank everyone who supported their recent race night at the masonic hall which raised £1060.

The club have welcomed two new committee men to assist in their fundraising drive to back the new management team of Bryan Slavin and Stuart Davidson.

Both Peter Connor, formerly of Largs Colts, and Kenny Smailes, who was a long serving club secretary in the past, have brought their considerable experience to the Barrfields club.

They organise a number of different fundraising initiatives each Saturday, and have big plans to help support Thistle in the future.

Peter, who ran the Largs Colts team for many years up to under 19s level, said: “We are trying to get as much money for the club to back Bryan and Stuart. I really enjoy being involved with the club, and we are hoping to bring a lot of people back to Barrfields to watch the games, and hopefully, a winning team.

“At present, we are trying to arrange a 125th anniversary centenary dance near the end of the season, and a morning brunch with the winners of Scottish Cup and West of Scotland Cup - these are all positive plans in the pipeline.” And there is club merchandise available including hoodies, polo shirts, baseball caps, beanie hats and fridge magnets. The club fundraiser takes place on Saturday 25 April, and has attracted former Grade One referee Kenny Clark as one of the main speakers on the night.

The event will be chaired by former ‘News’ editor Drew Cochrane, and is bound to be a barrel-load of laughs.

Brown played for Hamilton Academical, Dundee and Rangers as a defender. He was a first team regular for Rangers as they won nine consecutive Scottish league championships between 1988 and 1997.
