Largs Thistle 4 Whitletts Victoria 0 Largs Thistle finished off their friendly preparations with a professional performance against a stuffy Whitletts Vics side on Wednesday, and could have scored many more.

There were some very well taken goals too to provide some added cheer on a grey and damp evening.

Player-manager Bryan Slavin was playing at right-back, but led the way to goal with the opening strike to put Largs 1-0 up.

Midfielder Graham Muir popped up with the second goal on 29 minutes as he latched on to a through ball to lift the ball over the keeper and into the net.

And Willie McClure, who seems to have a new lease of life out on the left channel, scored a high quality third goal, as he feinted his way past defenders before striking the ball into the top right corner.

Largs were in control of matters in the second half, and rounded off the match in stunning style with sub Glenn Thomson’s free kick curling into the top right hand corner of the net.

Thistle kept a high tempo during the game, and carved out a lot of good chances throughout, while looking steady, controlled and composed at the back, and was a useful morale booster to kick on for the new season.
