Wizard of North celebrated in Fife Regatta

A celebration of the famous Fife yachts of Fairlie is set to place at the end of June in what promises to be the most spectacular homecoming yet for the vessels designed and built by William Fife and Sons.

A small boatyard in Bay Street in Fairlie over three generations produced yachts with first class workmanship and standards which are still heralded today.

On Friday 20 June, classic yachts designed by William Fife will be returning to their birth place to participate in the regatta. The boats were designed and built in Fairlie by the highly renowned 'Wizard of the North'.

Ten years ago there was a gathering of 11 Fife yachts to celebrate the centenary of Eric Taberley"s Pen Duick, and five years ago there was a gathering of 22 Fife yachts to celebrate the centenary of Moonbeam III. In June, 25 yachts will gather to celebrate the centenary of Viola. The Fife Yachts are one of the world"s most prestigious group of Classic yachts. The Yachts portray a journey through time and represent a period of great development and skill in the sailing world.
