Fun afternoon at Largs Bowling Club
A 'spectacular' afternoon was held at Largs Bowling Club last Saturday when 64 bowlers took to the green for a fun afternoon. The event was sponsored by Largs Specsavers, the new outlet in Largs where the franchise is owned by Gillian McCreadie and Victoria Laughlin. Gillian is keen to emphasise that theirs is a locally owned business and they were delighted to sponsor our local Club.
Winner of the Best Hat, Ladies was Maggie Findlay, whose 'Specsavers' creation was inspired by the sponsors, while the Best Hat Gents was that of Alastair Niven and was of a 'puckish' nature.
Runners up in the 15 ends mixed competition, played on lovely weather, were Jenny McEwan, Elsie McDougall, Crawford Gilchrist and Mike Jones skip. The winners of the new Specsavers Trophy were Bet Paterson, Nettie Clayton, Robin McDougall and Frank Harrison skip.
Following the bowling, the members and guests were treated to a magnificent barbecue followed by a bumper raffle. The afternoon was presided over by President Duncan Turner and comprehensive thanks given by Vice President Ian Birss.
