Brisbane Primary School in Largs can boast a rare high flying feat - it has a British judo champion!
Primary 7 pupil Demijane Reid went to Sheffield representing the local primary school in the British Schools Championships.
The gold medal Demijane managed to win all her fights, taking the gold medal in the under 12s 48kg category. Demi would like to thank all of her teachers for all their support through the last seven years.
The young judo starlet won four gold medals from her pervious five competitions including Inverness and Wishaw Open Championships, and the Scottish Judo Championships in Motherwell.
Recently she travelled to England and won the Midland Open Championships in Walsall, There were more than 100 schools from all over Britain at the national championships.
Brisbane Primary School head teacher Julie Dorrian, pictured with Demijane, said: “We are all very proud of Demi’s achievements in judo and, especially, the fact that she is now a UK champion.
