The annual Cumbrae to Largs open swim to raise funds for Gillian’s Saltore Appeal is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

The big swim takes place on Saturday 19 September at 3.30pm.

Registration and safety briefing begins at 2pm, before participants are bussed to the Cal Mac ferry to Cumbrae, where the race starts.

Organiser John Burleigh, who takes part in the swim every year, said: “We are hoping for 100 swimmers to raise £20,000 - so help pass the word!” Last year’s winner was Largs teen Glen Duffy of North Ayrshire swim Club.

After the event, there are shower facilities which can be used at Largs Sailing Club, and hot soups are available, before an evening dance celebration takes place at the club.
