Master stroke .. North Ayrshire swimmers celebrate.

Fantastic Win Produces 5 in a Row Record

North Ayrshire Amateur Swimming Club achieved the result they were aiming for with an amazing win last weekend in the final of the West District mini-league - for the fifth time in a row!

This result, achieved by swimmers between the age of 8 and 12 years old, equalled the previous record held by City of Glasgow.

This was a fantastic gala for these youngsters; who had won their 3 qualifying meets to get to the final, as they came from behind to beat City of Glasgow by 4.5 points and secure the Mini-league trophy.

The swimmers were supported not only by family and friends, but their older club mates who contributed to a frenetic atmosphere at the Citadel in Ayr, cheering the team on through all their swims.

The final score was North Ayrshire 232, City of Glasgow 227.5, South Ayrshire 172, Ren96 118, Kilmarnock 112 and West Dunbartonshire 101.5. Head coach, Sharon Welsh, was delighted by the young swimmers performances, which she felt was due reward for all the hard work they had put in this year.

She also praised her assistant coaches who provided her with invaluable support in getting the team into "winning shape". Although there were strong performances from some of the more established swimmers, this was undoubtedly a team effort with points secured right the way through the squad.

The full squad, including reserves was Jasmine MacKillop, Katie Inch, Lucy Welsh, Catriona Fowlie, Sophie Young, Demi Orr, Alex Killen, Eilidh Love, Ailie Macpherson, Jennifer King, Kirsten Andrew, Fiona Lee, Briony Thomson, Jamie-Anne Robb, Gina Allan, Rowan Smith, Rosa Smith, Rachael Murphy, Emma Hodge, Clare Monaghan, Ellan Welsh, Kate Parker, Emma Scully, Gabby Black, Ross Hughes, Fraser Gilmour, Josh Black, Cameron Auld, Jake Dunwoodie, Liam Cairns, Mark Hughes, Blair Angus, Louis Dymond, Nathan Priceman, Glen Duffy, Andrew Parker, Joshua Cozens, John Riddell, Angus & Andrew Dickson.
