A team from North Ayrshire Amateur Swimming Club continued their superb start to 2010 with some magnificent swims at the recent two -day Stirling Junior Open Meet.

This event has a first class reputation because it attracts the top young swimmers from all over Scotland, giving an opportunity to measure performance against the fastest in the country. Thirteen swimmers from North Ayrshire, aged between 11 and 14 years took part.

Jordan Hughes (13) swept all before him coming away with a clean sweep of six gold medals from his six events, in five new Personal Best ("PB") times.

Jennifer King (11) also had a brilliant two days, winning five gold medals while recording six PBs. Jordan's younger brother, Ross, had just turned 12 and grabbed a bronze in a fiercely contested 100m Butterfly as he stepped up in the age group category.

Graham Brown (14) won a pair of silver medals, in the 200m Freestyle and the 100m Backstroke, and recorded PBs in all of his swims. Julie McClymont (12) produced an excellent swim to win silver in the 100m backstroke, following on from a bronze medal in the 200m Individual Medley in a time which smashed her previous best by seven seconds.

Julie's older sister, Heather (14), added to the family's success with a silver in the 200m Freestyle. Also on the medal podium was Rheanna Sloss (14) with a bronze in the 100m Breaststroke in a PB time, adding to the PBs she achieved in all of her other events.

Also recording impressive improvements in their time across a range of events were Kirsten Andrew (12), Mhairi Gilmour (14), Rowan Smith (12), Raymond Stone (14) and John Wright (12) and mention should be made of Sarah Reford (13) who swam well on her recovery from recent illness.
