Former GFT and Edinburgh International Film Festival director David Bruce is also an author.
Largs and District Historical Society host talk by former director of Scottish Film Council in Cheese and Nibbles night on Monday 18 January.
The event starts at 6.45pm at the local museum as David Bruce, who is also past chairman of the Glasgow Film Threatre, discusses the influence of Sir Walter Scott on Hollywood.
The annual Cheese and Nibbles night is one of the big events in the Largs Historical Society calendar year.
Irene Innes of the Historical Society said: "We are delighted to welcome David to the Historical Society for what should be a fascinating talk."
