Members of the public were highly impressed with the size and scale of the new Brooskby Health Centre as it opened its doors for a special Open Day on Sunday.
The �6.7m facility, which brings both health practices at Frazer Street and Aitken Street together under the one roof, and will also provide a range of council services including social work and registrar facilities later in the year. The GP practice opens for business on Monday August 11.
There will be also be a specific area in the building for marriages following the controversial sale of neighbouring Moorburn council Chambers.
Other facilities at the Brooksby Medical and Resource Centre include community nursing, addiction services, mental health, nutrition & dietetics and speech & language therapy.
Mr Tom Steele, NHS Assistant director for facilities, said: 'Locating all these services under the one room improves efficiency and how they communicate - it means that they are not reliant on e-mails or phone calls, but a simple knock on the door and the patient/client services are more efficient. For social work, instead of setting up a case conference, you chat directly across the desk about it. It has been a proven success elsewhere."
