A striking exhibition of photographs of FIfe boats are set to go on display from 5th December till 28th February 2010 at the Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.

Amongst the myriad of boat builders of the 19th century, one family emerged as clear leaders in both design and construction, they were the three successive generations of the William Fife's, ending in the genius of William Fife III. When the elder Fife was asked about his design philosophy, he answered, "A boat should be fast and bonnie" These visions showing the outstanding grace of his hull shapes, their elegance and their magnificent curves, all finished with that gold inlayed line from the carved dragon on the bow to the tail at the stern.

In 2008 the third Fife Regatta took place on the Clyde Estuary where some of the world's best and most beautiful wooden yachts ever built, arrived at Largs Marina.

One of the pictures on display (pictured) is the Mariquita passing the Ayrshire Lass.
