Fairlie Community Council have questioned whether the impact of coal lorries on the Haylie Brae has resulted in its closure for repairs for two weeks.
Chairman David Telford raised the issue as the ongoing controversy over the closure for maintenance repairs has a major impact on commuters, since it shut on Sunday.
During Monday's meeting, Mr Telford said: "We often complain about the coal lorries coming through Fairlie and a lot of them seem to use the Haylie Brae. Should these trucks not be staying on trunk roads? The Haylie Brae is not a trunk road and it is not for that purpose, but you have to wonder if the reason it has closed again is because of the severe impact of the lorries. When you go up the Haylie, you see dozens of lorries coming down." Full story in the Largs & Millport Weekly News of March 7.
