A lifetime affection for Largs culminated in an historic role for comedienne Karen Dunbar in the town last week.
After carrying the Queen's Commonwealth Games baton along Largs seafront Karen Dunbar told the 'Largs & Millport Weekly News’ “I am almost too excited - I was like a wean going to the pleasure beach! It is fantastic, when you consider the amount of places it has been. It has been through tens of thousands of hands - and I feel very privileged to be one of those hands!
" It is a personal highlight for me in that I will be moving faster than a very slow walk which has its own comic value. I am a bit of a sprinter for a good five or ten yards, and then everything falls apart - so I went at a canter, maybe more of a trot!
Karen added: “I have many special memories of Largs, and have been coming here since a kid, and it was lovely to be there on this special day, and to receive the baton from Zoe Maclean and Canine Partner Remus.”
