The Rotary Clubs of Largs and Hunterston are to help sponsor the 2015 Scottish Schools Indoor Athletic Championships.

This major sporting event, to be known as ‘Rotary International Scottish Schools Indoor Athletic Championships’, will take place at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow on 4 and 5 February.

Peter Greenhalgh, President of Largs Rotary said, “Rotary is all about communities. We’re delighted to support Scottish schools athletes. We see it as a legacy from the Commonwealth Games and an investment in the future of our young athletes.” Frances Fegan, Vice-President of the Scottish Schools Athletics Association said: “We are delighted that Rotary International are supporting this event. The support from Rotary clubs throughout Scotland is very encouraging for everyone involved in sports in school communities” "More than 1000 athletes from over 200 schools will take part in track and field events at the championships. In our area we are delighted that St Matthew’s Academy and Ardrossan Academy will have around 20 pupils participating in a number of events." The first event starts at 11am each day and will end around 5pm. All are welcome to attend.

The Emirates Arena was built for the Commonwealth Games and along with the adjacent Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome is Glasgow’s largest multi-sport facility.
