Young Largs father David Boyle is looking forward to taking part in the ‘best marathon in the world’ when he heads to London in April.

David, who is the owner of Halliday’s Chemist in Aitken Street, can be seen pounding the streets of Largs three times a week in preparation for the ‘pinnacle’ running event.

The 36 year old said: “I am running for the NSPCC for the childline charity. Personally I enjoy running, and find the London Marathon a great personal challenge, and it also represents a great opportunity for me to raise some money for charity.

“Two to three times per week, I am running 6/8 miles and on Sunday I run from my house in Largs down to Hunterston and back which amounts to around 16 miles. London really is the pinnacle in marathon running, and I cannot wait. It might not be the biggest marathon in the world, but it is certainly the most prestigious.” David is married to former Brisbane Queen Elisa (nee Giovino), and they have two children Willow, 3, and Ivy who is just 10 weeks old.

On his charity just giving page, David stated: “Every childhood is worth fighting for....and by supporting this charity I hope to help them in their quest to prevent child cruelty. Any donation, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.” The Virgin London Marathon takes place on Sunday 26 April, and is televised on BBC1.
